Sustainable practices at Villa da Fonte.

The sun powers most of our energy system. Electricity is generated by solar PV panels and water panels on the roof heat up the hot water system plus the floor heating during mild winter times. Additionally a battery and a heat pump take care of heating tasks after sunset. 

A small spring ( Nossa Fonte) near the pool supplied drinkwater to Monte Bom villagers during the last century, now it provides water for the upper garden and infinity pool.  

As we are not connecting to the municipality sewer network, we opted for a biological septic tank. Waste water gets naturally filtered and flows afterwards to our trees and plants at the lower part of the garden. Adding an extra organic filter (I hope I can make this happen in 2027) will clean the water even further. Through a small stream the pond will be full of water the entire summer, the frogs will sing a song, dragonflies dance and fish jump, and lilies  will smile during the dry summer season. 

We would like to ask you to use our energy resources responsible. 

Furthermore  please dispose glass, plastics and clean paper in the designated  containers so we can recycle these materials.  

Leftover food mostly gets recycled by our chickens or it will end up on the compost heap.
